Kay grew up next to her grandfather's dairy farm. Her artistic talent was discovered in elementary school art classes, so her mom enrolled her in private oil painting lessons around the age of 10. She was introduced to watercolor in high school art classes where she fell in love with the unique beauty and properties of watercolor.
Kay is a Meadow's Scholar with a Master's Degree in Education. After teaching for 2 years in the public school system as a junior high math teacher, she retired from teaching and started her own personal training and life coaching business (Cross Coaching & Wellness). As a personal trainer and coach, Kay spoke at national conferences in New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Palm Springs and DFW. She has published over 60 articles in peer reviewed journals and has also been quoted in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Seattle Times, Lansing State Journal, Cosmopolitan, Cooking Light, Teen Vogue, Delta Sky Magazine, Fitness, Strong, Smart Homeowner, Shape, and Upscale.
During Kay's busy "career" years, she had virtually no time to paint. But with some gentle shoves from her business coach, she finally got out her paintbrushes again in 2016 and retired her personal training business. Kay gratefully found her artistic passion once again and produces 10-12 pieces per year as well as taking on select commissioned work. She specializes in watercolor.
Art is her passion and the vehicle through which she expresses her heart and her appreciation of beauty. In Kay's watercolor paintings, you see vivid color, richness, depth, passion and drama. Her goal is to inspire and enrich your life through her art. Kay started competing in shows in 2018. From 2018-2020 she has been accepted into and exhibited in 22 professional shows.
Kay's medium of choice is watercolor. Occasionally she will throw in a special pastel piece.
